LAND

Bike Riding

Biking should be an integral part of your eco-experience, either as adventurous mountain biking or casual scenic cycling.  It is an independent and affordable way to see parts of Fiji and to keep fit.    

Motor Cycling

See and experience Nadi on your own and rent a motorcycle.  Take a ride to the local food market or into Nadi town and enjoy the scenery at your leisure.

Sightseeing

Exploring

The ‘Nahehe’ Cave located in the Sigatoka Valley is nature’s treasure, accessed by a short trek through farmland and forest.  The caves includes a sacred pond and legendary “pregnancy gap” leading to the Great Cathedral Chamber.  The tour is organized daily by Adventures in Paradise.

Village Visits

Feel the warmth and genuine hospitality of the Fijian people when visiting our traditional villages and please be mindful of Fijian traditional values and protocol.  Navala Village, famous for its unspoilt beauty of the surrounding area brings you Fiji’s hinterland with a spectacular hilltop location of over 100 thatched “bures” [Fijian traditional home].  With a magnificent view from the hilltop location, Navala village appears to be in a shape of a crucifix. 

Sand Dunes

The historical Lapita people played an important role in Fiji’s early history.  Proof of their existence has been found in the form of pottery fragments and human skeletons, buried in the Sigatoka Sand Dunes.  Good trekking opportunities, great views and nearby offshore surf breaks.  This is the site of Fiji’s first national heritage park, covering 650 hectares; it is an important archaeological and ecological area.

Firewalking and Meke Show

You can witness traditional and authentic cultural shows that are unique to Fiji.  Watch an intense performance by the popular Beqa firewalkers at many major Resorts around the country or visit Fiji’s very own Arts Village where there is singing, dancing, storytelling of myths and legends of the Fiji Islands all in an ambience surrounding Fiji’s traditional village set up.

Trekking

Fiji’s backcountry wilderness offers luxuriant sugar cane and vegetable farms, archaeological and cultural sites, volcanic mountains, tropical rainforest, waterfalls, rivers for swimming and spectacular highland views.  Often included are traditional Fijian village hospitality and cultural experiences.        

Fiji’s national parks offer fresh water, swimming pools, pristine waterfalls and low impact trekking, taking in our extensive native varieties of flora and fauna.  Best known are Colo-I-Suva, Abaca/Koroyanitu [Lautoka], and Bouma [Taveuni]. 



AIR

Island Hopping

Sky Dive

Feel the rush, embrace the euphoria of up to 10,000 feet skydives and experience the mind-blowing view of Fiji from a bird’s eye view.  Operated out of the Nadi Airport with jumps to Denarau Marina, Denarau Golf Course and on to the beach at Denarau Island, this skydive experience also includes a scenic flight, personalized instruction, an attainment certificate and a safety briefing on the equipment used.

Parasailing

Experience a 15, 30 or 60-minute parasail for either a solo, tandem or triple parasail from “Cherokee”, surveyed for 14 passengers. 



SEA

Surfing

Fiji offers world-class surf and reef breaks.  Some of the best known are Wilkes and Cloudbreak [Mamanuca’s], Frigates Passage [Coral Coast], and Typhoon Alley [Kadavu].  There is accommodation that caters for surfers and with guides surf lessons. 

Kayaking

Kayaking is an increasingly popular sporting pursuit, due to its intimate connection with nature.  Adventurous ocean kayaking tours and expeditions are available through some resorts, as well as river and lagoon options.  Most resorts have recreational canoes available for a leisurely exploration of the nearby reefs.  Rivers Fiji offers an exhilarating experience of the lush rainforest, white water, rock mazes, and tropical interior hidden pathways.

Pearl Farms

Savusavu in our northern island of Vanua Levu produces Fiji’s rare pearls.  J Hunter Pearls is situated in Savusavu town.  With day tours to the farm, the visit will enlighten you on the farming techniques for pearls of significant colour and world-recognized size.  Visit the nursery and the beds in the bays with guided tours of the pearls and culling of jewelry.

Snorkeling

Major resorts and cruises offer snorkeling as part of their activities programme with a breathtaking range beautiful coral and fish to admire.  Snorkeling equipment is available at resorts and cruises that offer this with guided tours if needed.

River Safari

This eco-cultural tour of the Sigatoka River will give you an in depth experience of the panoramic view of the highland sceneries, farmlands and village communities.  The safari tour is onboard a jet boat for a 10 mile journey inland.

Rivers

Explore Fiji’s extensive river systems, either by boat, jet boat, canoe, kayak or even a bamboo raft [known locally as a bilibili].  Try the Navua River, Sigatoka River, and Wainibuka River.
Enjoy an adventure on the river, with a historical twist.  Discover how Fijians used to get around before the construction of roads and motorcars.  ‘Bilibili’ is a raft made out of bamboo and is used for transportation.  Tours are available if you want to experience the the “bilibili” raft with Feejee Experience, Jewel of Fiji, Discover Fiji, Wilderness Adventure to name a few.  All of which are guided tours.

Marine Parks

Fiji’s world-class marine parks offer endless opportunities for quality diving and snorkeling.  Fiji’s best-known aquatic playgrounds are found in waters around Kadavu, Taveuni, Beqa, Ovalau, Mamanucas, Yasawas and the Coral Coast.

Waterfalls

Because of Fiji’s volcanic mountainous terrain, waterfalls are common on the larger islands.  Perhaps the best knowns are in Bouma [Taveuni], Biuausevu [Coral Coast], Rakiraki, Koroyanitu [Lautoka], Savusavu, Wailoku and the Navua River. 

There are full and half day tours offered by inbound operators and tour companies that will give you the experience of the high, rugged terrains of Nausori highlands with spectacular views or an authentic bush walk with herbal and foliage advice, from local guides to magnificent waterfalls in the interior.
